How the hire catalogue came together

A short record of the seasons, stock additions and setup notes that shaped what Melflora Eventi can send out today.

  1. Early 2019

    First stretch tent on a Pretoria lawn

    The catalogue started with one tensioned tent skin, a set of ratchet straps and a borrowed trailer. Backyard birthdays in the east of Pretoria were the first bookings, and the anchor method for grass versus paving was written down after the first windy weekend.

  2. Late 2020

    Chairs, trestles and matched linen

    Tiffany chairs in clear, white and olive finishes arrived alongside standard trestle lengths. Linen, runners and napkins were matched to table sizes so a reception reads as one scheme, and the first layout sheets were drawn to show seats per table without crowding.

  3. Mid 2021

    Cape Winelands marquee season

    Farm weddings on gravel and paving pushed the rigging notes further. Side panels for exposed sites, extra ground anchors and a delivery window built around ceremony times became standard for the Winelands bookings, where the wind picks up after four in the afternoon.

  4. 2022 to 2023

    Tableware, warmers and breakage terms

    Crockery, cutlery, glassware and cake stands were added in crated sets, followed by catering warmers with their tray sizes and power requirements listed. Return counts and breakage terms were written into the quote list so nothing is settled by guesswork after collection.

  5. 2024 onward

    Packages, filters and staffed crews

    Items were grouped into ready-to-book packages and the catalogue gained filters for event type, guest count and venue. Generator hire and staffed setup crews were added for larger functions, and every listing now carries size, finish, quantity available and setup notes before a quote list is sent through.

Questions we get before a booking

How far ahead should I reserve chairs, tents and tables?

For December and the spring wedding weekends, four to six months is realistic, especially for stretch tents and large chair counts. Off-season dates in Pretoria or the Winelands often stay open two to three weeks out, but linen and glassware move fastest, so build your list early even if you book later.

Do you deliver and set up, or is it collection only?

Both are possible. Smaller orders are usually collected from our yard, while marquees, dance floors and staffed setups are delivered and installed by our crew. Transport is quoted per route and depends on venue access, parking distance and whether the site is on grass, gravel or paving.

What happens if the weather turns on an outdoor venue?

Side panels, extra ground anchors and weighted bases are the usual fix for windy sites. We check the surface before confirming the anchor method, and for exposed lawns we recommend adding side panels to the tent package rather than hoping the wind drops.

Can I mix items from different packages?

Yes. Most clients start from a package and then add or drop items, for example keeping the tiffany chairs but swapping in a mobile bar or extra catering warmers. Your quote list shows each line by size, finish and quantity so you can see exactly what changed.
